SpyCloud Named to Fast Company’s First-Ever List of the Next Big Things in Tech

New Recognition Program Highlights Tech Breakthroughs That Promise to Define the Future of Their Industries

Austin, TX – Nov. 18, 2021 – SpyCloud, the leader in account takeover prevention (ATO), today announced that it has been named to Fast Company’s inaugural Next Big Things in Tech list, honoring the technology breakthroughs that promise to shape the future of their industries.

Winners include global giants and intrepid startups, recognizing 65 technologies that are making waves. While not all of the products, services, and technological developments are on the market yet, they’re reaching key milestones in having a positive impact for consumers, businesses, and society at large in the next five years. Fast Company also recognized 33 honorable mentions.

SpyCloud was recognized for its big data platform, comprised of unique data breach collection methodologies and scalable curation technology, resulting in the most robust database of compromised credentials and PII – over 142 billion assets. Where threat intelligence companies scan the dark web waiting for stolen data to appear, SpyCloud researchers infiltrate underground cybercriminal communities to obtain breach data straight from criminals within days of the breach occurring. Then the SpyCloud platform takes over, consisting of tooling to force multiply researchers’ efforts with an efficient data ingest, cleansing, parsing, and de-duplication process. It then cracks passwords – millions per week. This is a resource-intensive process that would be impossible at this scale without purpose-built, automated technology.

The result is the world’s largest collection of machine-readable breach data that enables exact matches of user logins against the compromised credentials found in data breaches.

We’re honored to be a part of this year’s inaugural Next Big Things in Tech awards from Fast Company. Since 2016, we have worked tirelessly to protect enterprises and consumers from attacks resulting from credential exposures, from account takeover to ransomware. Barring a major change in human behavior, these types of attacks are going to keep occurring. The criminal underground is ever-evolving and it’s up to us to be one step ahead to combat this activity.
– Ted Ross, SpyCloud CEO & co-founder

Through APIs, businesses use SpyCloud to match user logins against third-party breaches and malware-infected user records, and when a compromise is found, automate the remediation process. This enables fast notification to users that their password must be reset to something unique and complex, re-securing their accounts before criminals can access the information and use it for nefarious purposes.

SpyCloud is proven to thwart identity-based cyberattacks like account takeover, which precipitates ransomware, business email compromise, and online fraud. SpyCloud’s fast access to breach data and infected user records, along with automated responses to remediate exposures, enables enterprises to reduce manual processes while protecting their brand reputation and bottom line.

Fast Company is thrilled to highlight cutting-edge technologies that are solving real-world problems in unexpected ways. From climate change and public health crises to machine learning and security, these technologies will certainly have a profound impact on the future, and we’re honored to bring attention to them today.
